A 10-year roofing guarantee covers installation workmanship — if our work fails, we return and rectify free. Separate manufacturer product warranties cover materials (25 years GRP, 30 years concrete tile). Both are provided in writing. Guaranteed roofing in Salisbury: 0172 223 9611.
Most reputable Salisbury roofers offer a 10-year guarantee on their work. But what does it actually mean, what does it cover, and what can invalidate it?
Workmanship Guarantee vs Product Warranty
These are two separate things. A workmanship guarantee covers the quality of the installation — if the work fails due to how it was done, the roofer returns and rectifies at no cost. A product warranty covers the material itself — if a tile cracks from a manufacturing defect, the manufacturer replaces it. Both are relevant but cover different failure modes.
The NFRC operates an insurance-backed guarantee scheme covering member workmanship — homeowners should always obtain the guarantee terms in writing, as verbal guarantees are unenforceable.

What Our 10-Year Guarantee Covers
Our workmanship guarantee covers any failure directly caused by the installation quality of the specific work we carried out — a lead valley that fails at a junction we formed, a ridge tile that displaces because of how we bedded it, a GRP flat roof that leaks at an upstand we installed. It does not cover: storm damage, damage caused by third parties, or deterioration of roof elements we did not work on.
What Can Invalidate a Roofing Guarantee
- Unauthorised modifications to the work by a third party
- Damage caused by events outside normal maintenance scope
- Failure to carry out reasonable maintenance of adjacent elements
Product Warranties in Addition to Workmanship
GRP flat roof systems: 25-year manufacturer guarantee. Concrete tile: most manufacturers offer 30-year product guarantees. Welsh slate and clay tile: effectively lifetime guarantees against manufacturing defects. These are in addition to the installer workmanship guarantee — you hold both simultaneously.
What a Guarantee Should Look Like
A guarantee should be provided in writing, confirming: what work is covered, the duration, what invalidates it, and how to make a claim. Any verbal guarantee is unenforceable. We provide written guarantees on all completed work as a standard part of every job completion.
